Upper Fifteen, Inc.Meeting Minutes
11/3/99
Present: Cusick, Heslin, Oberg, Paige, Rohl, Schramm, Thompson, Winslow
Prez Schramm called the meeting to order at 2001.
Minutes: The last minutes were read by Thompson, and approved.
Treasurer: Barnewall not present, but e-mailed a report to all members. Checking balance is $2,860, with funds due from McCarthy. Estimate your flying charges and send Barnewall a check, please.
Membership: 15 Sr., 2 Jr., 3 openings.
Rules & Publicity: Winslow reported nothing new to report.
Flight Standards: No report.
Hangar & Grounds: Heslin thanked Thompson for his long tenure as Hangar &Grounds chair. The members seconded that emotion. Log Books: Up to date per Barnewall's e-mail. Oil changes due at 1705 hrs. for 75R and at 893 hrs for 55144. 100-hr. inspections are due for both aircraft within the next 50 hours.
Aircraft55144: Oil was changed shortly after 893 hrs. The DME is back in service. THE mechanic who fixed the elevator thinks the nose wheel orientation may be the source of the wing-low condition. He'll tackle fixing it his way, with no charge to the Club if his fix doesn't work. The same mechanic looked at the ruder dent and will send a letter to the FAA, thus closing out their interest. Schramm suggested recycling XPDR (turn off, then back on) before contacting ATC on the way in to ALB.
Aircraft9075R: Heslin noted 1 report of intermittent mode C. Elevator trim wheel continues to creep; still runs out of left rudder trim in cruise. The slave on the HI was not working on a trip TO FRG last weekend, but worked on the way back. DME giving gibberish when slaved to NAV#1.
Old Business: Reservation System: After extended discussion, the Club decided to temporarily go with the free, Web-based reservation system at BuyPlane. com. The issue of schedule access from the hangar was tabled at this time.
New Business: Heslin discussed his experience with approach controllers at FRG. He described a 'slam-dunk' arrival clearance that required substantially faster than standard descent to make the ILS into the airport. A brief discussion of controller attitudes at varying distances from the NYC metro area ensued.
The meeting was adjourned at 2105.
Respectfully submitted, Tom Thompson, Secretary
