Upper 15 Flying Club
Meeting Minutes 2/17/99
Present: Barnewall, Gomez, Rohl, Schramm, Thompson
Guests: Gerry Oestreich (3rd meeting); Al Murray (1st meeting)
1. VP Schramm called the meeting to order at 2009.
2. Minutes of the last meeting, being unavailable, were waived.
3. Treasurer Barnewall reported that ìWeíre solvent, with all bills paid, and a cash & checking balance of about $2,700.î
4. Membership: 14 senior, 1 junior, 5 openings. Gerry Oestreich submitted his application for membership. These minutes will serve as notice of a vote to be taken on his membership at the meeting of March 3rd, 1999, assuming the Board meets to interview him in the intervening time frame. The Club welcomed Al Murray as a guest. Al is a full-time helicopter pilot with the National Guard unit based at ALB. He has about 4,500 hours total time, and holds a wide range of pilot and instructor ratings. He likes tailwheel aircraft, has owned numerous airplanes, and is perhaps about to sell his most recent, a restored Cessna 170.
5. Rules & Publicity: No report.
6. Hangar & Grounds: Members are asked to treat the landside door gently. Remember to lift up on the handle when working the lock bolt.
7. Logbooks: Up to date.
8. Aircraft: 55144: Thompson noted minor lamp squawks when he flew Monday night. The left wing still wants to droop in flight, and Jim Welch is proceeding on a course of further diagnostic action. Itís got a fresh oil change, and the incipient crack in the upper right corner of the windshield has been stop-drilled.
9. Aircraft: 9075R: Pilots are cautioned to set the HIS to ìfree gyroî mode before adjusting the heading card. This will avoid excessive wear on the slave clutch. Set the HIS back to ìslaveî mode after re-setting the heading. The oil is fresh, and the fuel tank vents have been adjusted again.
10. Old Business: The Board slate nominated at the last meeting was elected.
11. New Business: Members are reminded to remove Dave Semenoff from their e-mail list of Upper 15 members.
12. The meeting was adjourned at 2050.
Respectfully submitted,
TomThompson
Acting Secretary
