Treasurer's Report

· Due to the sharp increase in the operating cost for both airplanes, as well as the increased overhead costs associated with the new hangars, the Finance Committee has recommended rate increases which the Board has approved.

· The rate for N55144 has been increased from $65/hr to $70/hr.

· The rate for N9075R has been increased from $95/hr to $103/hr.

· Monthly dues remain unchanged at $72.

Membership

· Please continue to welcome our newest member, Gary Gore, to the Club!

· We are presently at the Club limit of 20 members.

· We are waiting to hear back from Georges Hubain regarding his interest in remaining on the waiting list.

· A potential new member, Raj, attended his first meeting tonight.

Flight Safety Standards

· Especially now, with winter upon us, we are all encouraged to brush up on our knowledge of how to prevent inadvertent flight into icing conditions. As part of the pre-notes for the meeting, Mike Murray emailed us useful information on the subject. Bob Jones also distributed a useful article on icing conditions and IFR.

Rules & Publicity

· Tim Schramm is in the process of moving our website to a new service provider, featureprice.com. Cost of the new site is $4.99 per month including 50 MB of storage.

· Thanks to Tim for his part in getting a link to our club on KALB's homepage (Checkout www.albanyairport.com)

Hangar & Grounds

· Remember to plug in the electric heaters for either airplane.

· To extend the life of the winch system and to prevent serious hangar rash to the empennage, it is important that you turn the winch OFF when the nosewheel is within 1 foot of the door threshold. Push the airplane in manually from that point on.

· Deane Taber is taking orders for some nice LED flashlights. They use 2 AA batteries, last practically forever, and they come in green, red, and white. Murray points out that "green" is the latest recommendation in terms of preserving night vision. Cost is $15 apiece, and Deane's email address is offduty@nycap.rr.com

· Albany Security Personnel showed up at our meeting to remind us that we must stand by the gate whenever it is not completely closed. They have noticed that not everyone is complying with this requirement.

Logbooks

Up to date per Barnewall

Airplanes

· Both airplanes are now equipped with electric heaters.

· We are still looking to switch over to the halogen bulbs which last 5 times longer than the conventional variety.

N55144

· Taxi light is inoperative.

· The general consensus is that problems with radio communications are correlated more with the position in the avionics stack than with individual radios. The conclusion is that we have a problem with the wiring harness in the #2 COMM rack.

N9075R

· The A/D pertaining to the routing of fuel lines near the wing root has been complied with.

· Electric engine preheater has been installed.

Old Business

None

New Business

· As required in the Bylaws, Murray has appointed a nominating committee to present a slate of new Board member candidates for 2003. The committee consists of Cusick, Paige, Murray, and Heslin.

· Keep an eye out for inexpensive folding chairs that we can leave in the hangar lounge.

Respectfully Submitted,

-Mike Ampela, Vice President
