Rules & Publicity: No report
Flight Standards: No report
Hangar & Grounds: Taber reported no complaints. He cautioned members using the winch to maintain some strain on the cable when paying out or reeling in, to prevent it from fouling on the drum shaft. Barnewall led a round of applause for Tabers good work as H&G chairman.
Log Books: Not reported
Aircraft: 144 Oil was changed recently and will be changed again Monday night. The outer ring dimmer switch tat controls radio brightness is broken and will be addressed Monday. IFR re-certification is now done. Murray reported that it needs more left rudder trim in cruise.
A reminder: Fill the oil to 6 quarts max! Any more and it goes out the breather and all over the belly of the aircraft.
Aircraft: 75 Gomez noted that there hasnt been as much call for maintenance lately as earlier, and thanked everyone for treating the plane gently. He noted that the pedestal-mounted (hand) mic must be either seated all the way or removed all the way. Partial insertion will cut out any voice transmission from either radio. This may apply to the 172 as well.
The following bears repeating:
Again! Do not add oil if the stick shows 6 qts. or better except when taking a long trip in which case we should not exceed 7 qts.
Old Business: Gomez solicited interest from those present in a social function, namely a dinner cruise on the Hudson, sometime in October. There was general approval, but no agreement on a common date. The group told Gomez to simply pick a date and those who could show are encouraged to do so.
Taber again raised the issue of avionics updates for 144. After discussion, the matter was referred to the Board for action. Heslin noted that it would be referred to the Planning Committee (Dogan, Gomez, Thompson and Barnewall) for study and recommendations.
New Business: The Board recommended Georges Hubain for membership. He holds French and American VFR licenses, a Canadian seaplane rating, and a multi-engine (inline) rating. He is general manager of the St. Lawrence Cement plant in Catskill. On motion by Thompson, second by Schramm, and vote, Georges was admitted as a member. Bienvenue, Georges!
On motion by Gomez, second by Taber, and vote, the following officers were elected for 2002-2003: President Murray, VP Ampela, Treasurer Barnewall, Secretary Thompson.
The meeting was adjourned at 2100.
Respectfully submitted,
Tom Thompson, Secretary
