Treasurer‚s Report

Here is the Treasurers report for June 5, 2002:

When you buy fuel, please be sure to note both the aircraft number and your name on the receipt, so you get proper credit and the aircraft fuel consumption is properly recorded.

The present large checking account balance will be expended to pay off aircraft loans (about $32k) and to establish a funded engine replacement reserve in an interest-bearing account. A brief discussion of minor avionics upgrades to 55144 indicated a general interest in replacing the #1 nav/comm. with a Narco drop-in unit.

Checking Account--$47,267.70 Undeposited Checks $1,000 Accounts Receivable $2,643.72

Membership: 18 senior, 2 junior. It was reported that McCarthy has purchased an airplane and is planning to resign, although his official letter has not been received.

Rules & Publicity: No report

Hangar & Grounds: Congratulations to Murray for obtaining a substantial donation of used furniture from DEC (numerous comfortable chairs, file units and tables) to support Club operations. Also, the couches and end tables now in the hangar are a loan from Deane Taber. Thank you, Deane. Thanks also to Ampela for his work in repairing the air compressor and the tug for 75R. Our computer will be set up without the phone line to permit flight planning and simulator use. The computer in the pilot lounge is set up with broadband Internet for ease in checking weather. We need to update our Web pages to reflect the new hangar, and to revise contact and meeting information for prospective members.

Flight Standards: No report

Log Books: Up to date as of the last oil change.

Aircraft: 144 100 hour inspection is coming up next week. The last digit of the transponder was reported intermittent by Boston Center and ALB.

A reminder: Fill the oil to 6 quarts max! Any more and it goes out the breather and all over the belly of the aircraft.

Aircraft: 75 The oil was changed last (6/4) night. The Stormscope was reported intermittent by Paige, pilots are asked to keep an eye on it.

Pilots are reminded of Club advices concerning 75R operations into short and soft fields (minimum runway length of 1,800‚, paved). If using turf, call ahead to determine field condition before use.

The following bears repeating:

Again! Do not add oil if the stick shows 6 qts. or better except when taking a long trip in which case we should not exceed 7 qts.

Old Business: AS noted, proceeds from the sale of the old hangar will be used to pay off loans and fund an engine replacement reserve. A brief discussion of potential uses for remaining funds ensued.

New Business: Thompson and Oberg are not continuing as officers. They volunteered to form a Nominating Committee to present a slate of officers for 2002-2003 in time for a vote at the next meeting.

Since we didn‚t have a winter social event, a summer cookout was suggested. Consensus was it‚s a good idea. Murray will delegate its organization. Likely site: the new hangar. Members should e-mail date suggestions to Murray.

A rumor that the airport had begun to demand landing fees from GA tenants will be investigated. (Subsequent eventsBernie Schmelz, AOPA Airport Support Network volunteer for ALB, found that the Airport Finance Office had acted on its own authority, and that neither John Egan nor John O‚Donnell were aware of the action. Bernie reports that Airport policy has not changed, landing fees will not be charged to GA, and there are „no current plans‰ to change policy and institute landing fees for GA tenant aircraft.)

The meeting was adjourned at 2050.

Respectfully submitted,

Tom Thompson, Secretary
