The mechanic is looking for a used part that will work as well. We received a Cessna service advisory to remove and inspect the landing gear actuator. Compliance is voluntary. The service bulletin stems form an AD issued to all 172RG owners to remove and inspect and replace the bushings. This is about an $8,000 job, per AvFlash. Our mechanic feels the procedure is not necessary. On his advice, supported by Cessna Pilotís Association commentary, we will forgo the procedure.
