UPPER 15, INC. MEETING MINUTES

Date: 4 Oct 00

To: Upper 15

From: Geoffrey W. McCarthy M.D.

Members present: T. Schramm, J. Barnwall, C. Oberg, G. McCarthy, D. Tabor, Peter Röhl, and prospective members Bryan MacDonald, Darrell Sodergren. Dr. E. Franks visited to breif the club on his recent aircraft accident

Minutes: Read and approved. No corrections.

Treasurer: The treasurer presented an analysis of recent years costs and increases. The conclusion reached is that with over 18 members, the present dues rate will suffice. With 18 or less, a dues increase will be necessary.

Membership: No report.

Rules and Publicity: No report.

Flight Standards: No report.

Hangar and Grounds: No report.

Log Books: Up to date as of about two weeks ago.

Aircraft:

9075R: The DME is unreliable. The nose wheel strut has been rebuilt twice.

55144: At the 100 hour inspection time. A circuit breaker actuated, and the source of the overvoltage was traced to an interior, chafed wire. There is a flat spot on the front tire.

Old Business: There was not a quorum at the board meeting. A bylaw change is advocated to re-word the reservations section, and to prohibit reservation of both aircraft simultaneously.

New Business: 1. Dr. Ed Franks, a former Upper 15 member, described his serious landing accident in a Mooney 231. The aircraft was completely destroyed in a 360o pitch forward course as the propellor dug in. He believes his injuries were not fatal because of the shoulder harness use.

2. In future meetings, each club member will be asked to present a safety topic of their choice. G. McCarthy volunteered to be first and will also publish a rota of members to present.

Meeting Adjourned at: 2130

Next Meeting: Wednesday, 1 Nov 2000, 2000 hours, at Signature Aviation Support building.

Respectfully submitted,

GW McCarthy
